These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") set out the rules for using Waggr: the Waggr mobile app, the website at waggr.app and its sub-domains, and any related service we provide (together, the "Service"). Please read them carefully. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
Our Privacy Policy explains how we use your personal data. It is a separate document and is not part of these Terms, but you should read it too.
Summary#
This summary is here to help. The full Terms below are what apply.
- You must be 18 or over to have a Waggr account.
- Waggr is free to use today. If we ever charge for something, we will tell you the price and ask you to agree before you pay.
- You own what you post. You give us a licence to host and show it so the Service can work.
- Be kind and lawful. No illegal content, harassment, cruelty to animals, spam or selling animals. We can remove content and suspend accounts that break the rules.
- Bloop and the other AI features can be wrong. Health information in Waggr, including anything Bloop says, is not veterinary advice. In an emergency, contact a vet straight away.
- Stay safe. Take care when you meet people you have met on Waggr, and on walks.
- You can delete your account at any time.
- Nothing in these Terms takes away your legal rights as a consumer.
1. About us#
1.1 The Service is provided by [Company Name], a company registered in England and Wales under company number [Company Number], with its registered office at [Registered Address] ("Waggr", "we", "us", "our").
1.2 You can contact us at legal@waggr.app. For safety concerns or to report illegal content, email safety@waggr.app, or use the reporting tools in the app.
1.3 If we need to contact you, we will use the email address on your account or send you a notification in the app.
2. Who can use Waggr#
2.1 You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or use the Service. By creating an account you confirm that you are.
2.2 You must not use the Service if we have previously banned you, or if the law where you live does not allow you to use it.
2.3 The Service is designed for people in the United Kingdom. If you use it from somewhere else, you are responsible for complying with your local laws.
2.4 An account is for one person. You may add dogs you own or care for, and you may share care of a dog with other people through the features we provide. You must not create an account for someone else, or pretend to be someone else, a business or an organisation.
2.5 Business and vet practice profiles. If you set up or manage a profile for a business or a veterinary practice, you confirm that you are authorised to act for it. These Terms then apply both to you and to the business you represent. The consumer protections in these Terms are for individuals using Waggr for personal purposes, and do not apply to a business acting in the course of its trade.
3. Your account#
3.1 You must give accurate information when you register, and keep it up to date.
3.2 You are responsible for keeping your login details safe, including your password, passkeys and the devices you are signed in on. You can see and sign out of your devices and sessions in the app settings. Tell us straight away at legal@waggr.app if you think someone else has used your account.
3.3 You are responsible for what happens on your account unless it was used without your permission and you were not careless with your login details.
3.4 Usernames must not impersonate anyone, mislead, or be offensive. We may reserve or reclaim usernames, for example ones that imitate our staff or official roles, or that infringe someone's rights.
4. The Service#
4.1 Waggr is a social network for dogs and their owners. Features include, among others:
- profiles for you and your dogs;
- posts, stories, comments and reactions;
- packs (groups) and friends;
- messaging, which is end-to-end encrypted;
- walk tracking with routes and goals;
- a nearby map and optional sharing of your dog's presence with friends;
- dog health tools, such as vaccinations, treatments and medication reminders, appointments, weight, microchip and vet details;
- public cards and QR codes for your dogs and profiles;
- Bloop, our AI assistant, and other AI features, such as AI-generated images and dog insights;
- business profiles (for example groomers and cafés), a vet practice directory, and map pins for hazards, events and places.
4.1A Sponsored content. Some posts and stories in your feed may be paid for by advertisers. We always label them as sponsored. You can see why you are being shown a sponsored post, and you can hide posts from an advertiser. We do not give advertisers your personal data. We are not responsible for advertisers' products or services, or for claims they make.
4.2 We are always improving Waggr. We may add, change or remove features. If a change will significantly and negatively affect how you use the Service, we will give you reasonable notice where we can.
4.3 Waggr is currently in early access. Some features may be marked as experimental or beta. These may be less reliable, and we may change or withdraw them at short notice.
4.4 We aim to keep the Service available, but we cannot promise it will always be available, uninterrupted or free from errors. We may need to suspend it, for example for maintenance or security reasons, or because of events beyond our control.
4.5 You need a compatible device and an internet connection to use the Service. Your mobile network may charge you for data.
4.6 Price. The Service is free at the moment. Some features have usage limits. For example, there is a limit on how many AI images you can generate. If we introduce paid features, we will show you the price and any additional terms clearly before you buy. You will have any statutory rights to cancel.
5. Your content#
5.1 "Your Content" means anything you add to the Service. This includes posts, stories, photos, videos, voice notes, comments, messages, profile and dog details, walk routes, health records, prompts you give to Bloop, and feedback.
5.2 You keep ownership of Your Content. To run the Service, you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, process, adapt (for example, resize or transcode), display and distribute Your Content. We use this licence only to operate, provide, secure and improve the Service, and only in line with your privacy settings and our Privacy Policy. We do not sell Your Content.
5.3 The licence ends when you delete Your Content or your account, but with these exceptions:
- (a) copies may remain in backups for a limited period, as explained in our Privacy Policy;
- (b) content you shared with others may remain with them. For example, messages you sent stay in the recipient's conversation, and anything you posted to a pack may remain visible there, shown as coming from a deleted account;
- (c) we may keep content where the law requires it, or to deal with a complaint, report or legal claim.
5.4 Visibility. Your privacy settings control who can see much of what you share. Some things are public by design, for example your dog's public card that a QR code or tag links to, and any link you choose to share. Think before you share, particularly about your location and routines.
5.5 You confirm that:
- you own Your Content or have permission to share it;
- you have permission from anyone who can be identified in it, including in photos and videos;
- sharing it does not break the law or anyone's rights.
5.6 We do not check all content before it is published, and we are not responsible for content posted by other users. Other users' views are their own.
6. Community rules#
6.1 You must not use the Service to post, send or do anything that:
- (a) is illegal, or promotes or helps with illegal activity. This includes content that is illegal under the Online Safety Act 2023, such as threats, harassment, stalking, hate offences, fraud, terrorist content, and any content that sexually exploits or abuses children;
- (b) shows, promotes or encourages cruelty to, neglect of, or illegal fighting of any animal;
- (c) sells or offers animals for sale, stud, rehoming for a fee, or breeding. It must also not promote illegal breeding or the sale of banned breeds, or sell prohibited or controlled items, including prescription-only veterinary medicines;
- (d) harasses, bullies, threatens, intimidates, doxes or impersonates anyone. This includes sharing someone's location or personal details without their permission;
- (e) is hateful or discriminatory, sexually explicit, or graphically violent;
- (f) is spam, a scam, misleading, or unauthorised advertising;
- (g) infringes anyone's intellectual property, privacy or other rights;
- (h) contains malware, or tries to interfere with, overload, probe or gain unauthorised access to the Service, other accounts or our systems;
- (i) scrapes, harvests or collects data from the Service by automated means without our written permission, or uses the Service or its content to train AI models;
- (j) gets round a suspension, ban, block, rate limit or other safety or technical measure;
- (k) misleads people about who you are or who you represent.
6.2 Blocking and reporting. You can block or mute other users and report content, accounts and messages in the app. Please report anything you think breaks these rules or the law.
7. Online safety, moderation and enforcement#
7.1 How we protect users. We use a combination of the following to protect users from illegal and harmful content:
- user reports;
- human review;
- automated tools, including rate limits;
- AI-assisted moderation that screens some content against our policies.
Automated tools can make mistakes, so decisions to remove content or ban accounts can be reviewed by a person.
7.2 What we may do. If we reasonably believe that content or behaviour breaks these Terms or the law, or puts someone at risk, we may:
- remove or restrict the content;
- limit features;
- issue a warning;
- suspend or permanently ban an account.
We will act in a way that is proportionate to the problem.
7.3 Where appropriate, we will tell you what action we took and why, unless the law prevents us or telling you would put someone at risk.
7.4 Complaints and appeals. You can complain or appeal by emailing safety@waggr.app. This covers content you reported, action we took against your content or account, or how we are meeting our online safety duties. Please include the details we need to find the content or decision. We will acknowledge your complaint, review it fairly, and tell you the outcome.
7.5 Messages are end-to-end encrypted where both devices support it, so we cannot read their contents. We can only review such a message if someone shares its content with us, for example when reporting it.
7.6 We may preserve information and report content to the police or other authorities where the law requires it, or where we believe someone is at risk of harm.
8. Health information, Bloop and AI features#
8.1 Not veterinary advice. The following are for general information and record-keeping only:
- the health tools in Waggr, including reminders, weight ranges, insights and treatment information;
- anything Bloop or another AI feature says;
- anything other users post.
They are not a substitute for advice, diagnosis or treatment from a qualified veterinary surgeon. Always ask your vet about your dog's health. If you think your dog is ill or in danger, contact a vet or an emergency vet immediately. Do not wait for a reply in the app.
8.2 Reminders can fail. Notifications and reminders depend on your device, its settings and third-party services. You remain responsible for your dog's medication, vaccinations and appointments.
8.3 AI output can be wrong. Bloop and our other AI features are powered by third-party AI models. They can produce content that is inaccurate, incomplete, out of date or inappropriate. This includes suggested routes, places and opening times. Check anything important before you rely on it, especially anything to do with safety, health, the law or money.
8.4 Walk routes and places. Routes, places and map information come from third-party and user-contributed sources, and may be wrong. You are responsible for your own safety and your dog's:
- follow local rules, signs and the Countryside Code;
- keep your dog under control;
- judge the conditions for yourself.
8.5 Using the AI features. You must not use the AI features to create content that breaks section 6, including images of real people without their consent. You are responsible for how you use AI output. Our Privacy Policy explains what information we share with AI providers, and how you can turn AI features off in the app settings.
8.6 AI images. Images generated for you with our AI features are Your Content, as far as any rights exist in them, and may be labelled as AI-generated when shared.
9. Meeting people and your safety#
9.1 Waggr may help you meet other dog owners, for example through packs, nearby features and walks. We do not vet users. If you meet someone:
- meet in a public place;
- tell someone you trust where you are going;
- make sure dogs are introduced safely.
9.2 Location-sharing features are optional, and you control them in your privacy settings. Only share your location, home area or routine with people you trust.
9.3 You are responsible for your dog's behaviour, and you must comply with the law that applies to dog owners, including the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 and microchipping rules.
10. Our intellectual property#
10.1 We or our licensors own the Service, including its software, design, text, graphics, stickers, logos and the "Waggr" and "Bloop" names. Your Content and content owned by other users are not ours.
10.2 We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app and the Service for your own non-commercial purposes, in line with these Terms.
10.3 You must not do any of the following, except where the law allows it:
- copy, modify, reverse engineer or resell the Service;
- remove any copyright or other notices;
- use our trade marks without our written permission.
10.4 Maps and some data come from third parties, such as OpenStreetMap contributors and map tile providers. Their attribution and licence terms apply to that content.
10.5 If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them without any obligation to you.
11. Third-party services and app stores#
11.1 The Service links to, or relies on, third-party services. These include maps, GIF search, app stores and external links. We are not responsible for third-party services, and their own terms and privacy policies apply.
11.2 Apple. If you downloaded the app from the Apple App Store:
- (a) these Terms are between you and us, not Apple, and Apple is not responsible for the app or its content;
- (b) Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app;
- (c) if the app fails to meet any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the app;
- (d) Apple is not responsible for dealing with any claims relating to the app, including product liability claims, claims that the app fails to meet legal or regulatory requirements, and consumer protection claims;
- (e) Apple is not responsible for dealing with any claim that the app infringes a third party's intellectual property rights;
- (f) Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you;
- (g) you confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a US Government embargo, and that you are not on any US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
11.3 Google Play. If you downloaded the app from Google Play, Google Play's terms also apply to your download.
12. Ending your account#
12.1 You can stop at any time. You can delete your account at any time. You can do this from the app where available, or by emailing privacy@waggr.app from the email address on your account. We may ask you to confirm the request, so that nobody else can delete your account. When you delete your account:
- your profile is removed;
- your personal data is deleted or anonymised as described in our Privacy Policy;
- some content you shared with others may remain, shown as coming from a deleted account (see section 5.3).
12.2 We can suspend or end your account. We may suspend or end your access if any of the following applies:
- (a) you seriously or repeatedly break these Terms;
- (b) the law requires us to;
- (c) your use creates a risk to other users, us or third parties;
- (d) your account has been inactive for a long period. We will warn you first.
Where it is reasonable to do so, we will give you notice and a chance to respond. You can appeal under section 7.4.
12.3 If we close the Service, we will give you at least 30 days' notice, where we can, and a reasonable opportunity to download your data.
12.4 The following sections continue to apply after your account ends:
- section 5.3 (what happens to your content);
- section 10 (our intellectual property);
- section 13 (our responsibility to you);
- section 16 (general);
- any other provision that by its nature should continue.
13. Our responsibility to you#
13.1 Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability for:
- death or personal injury caused by our negligence;
- fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation;
- any other liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law, including your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
13.2 Your statutory rights. Where we supply digital content to you as a consumer, it must be:
- of satisfactory quality;
- fit for purpose;
- as described.
If we fail to meet these standards, you may be entitled to a repair or replacement. If our digital content damages your device or other digital content because we did not use reasonable care and skill, we will either repair the damage or pay you compensation. For advice on your rights, contact Citizens Advice.
13.3 Losses we are responsible for. If we fail to comply with these Terms, we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breach or our negligence. We are not responsible for loss or damage that is not foreseeable.
13.4 Personal use only. The Service is for domestic and private use. We are not liable to you for any loss of profit, loss of business, business interruption or loss of business opportunity.
13.5 Things outside our control. We are not responsible for:
- (a) content, conduct or meetings involving other users;
- (b) decisions you make based on health information, AI output, routes or places. This does not apply where we have acted negligently;
- (c) delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control;
- (d) the loss of content you did not keep a copy of. Please keep your own copies of important photos and records.
13.6 Cap on our liability. Subject to section 13.1, and to the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for all claims connected with the Service is limited to the greater of:
- the total amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim; and
- £100.
14. Your responsibility to us#
If you use the Service for business purposes, you will compensate us for any claims, losses and reasonable costs arising from your breach of these Terms or your violation of anyone's rights. If you are a consumer, you are responsible for loss you cause us by breaking these Terms, as the law provides.
15. Changes to these Terms#
15.1 We may update these Terms from time to time, for example:
- to reflect changes in the law;
- to reflect changes to the Service;
- to make them clearer.
The date at the top of these Terms shows when they last changed.
15.2 If a change is significant, we will tell you in advance, through the app or by email. Where the law requires it, we will ask you to accept the new Terms before you continue using the Service. If you do not agree to a change, you can delete your account before it takes effect.
16. General#
16.1 Transfer. We may transfer our rights and obligations under these Terms to another organisation, for example if our business is sold. We will tell you if this happens, and we will make sure the transfer does not reduce your rights. You may not transfer your rights under these Terms without our written consent.
16.2 Third-party rights. Apart from section 11.2(f), no one other than you and us has any right to enforce these Terms.
16.3 If part of these Terms is invalid. If a court decides that any part of these Terms is invalid or unenforceable, the rest of these Terms remain in force.
16.4 Delays in enforcing. If we do not insist on something straight away, we can still insist on it later.
16.5 Entire agreement. These Terms, together with any additional terms we show you for a specific feature, are the whole agreement between you and us about the Service.
16.6 Complaints. If you are unhappy with us, please contact us at legal@waggr.app first. We will try to resolve the problem quickly and fairly.
16.7 Governing law and courts. These Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. You can bring legal proceedings in the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland, you can also bring proceedings in Scotland, and if you live in Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in Northern Ireland.
